After a generally disappointing summer down under, India has landed it’s first blow in the World Cup bringing down arch rival Pakistan by 76 runs.
Indian pin up boy Virat Kholi continued his love affair with the Adelaide oval as he blasted a special 107 and landed man of the match. Shikhar Dhawan (73) and Suresh Raina (74) both added to Kholi’s efforts to help their side reach a total of 300.
Pakistan started its run chase reasonably solidly until the side drooped to 5 for 103 mid-way through the game. Captain Misbah-ul-Haq top scored with 76 and began what could have been a match changing partnership with Shahid Afridi. After the latter fell for 22 and Wahab Riaz came and went in the same over, the curtains started to draw for Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Sohail Khan, playing in his first one day match since 2011, took 5 for 55 including the wickets of Kholi and Raina.
